Report placement outcomes

Read placement rate and joining rate as two different numbers, use median CTC over highest, read the branch by company matrix, and take the server side CSV exports into the review.

Before you start

  • A season with a roster, at least one published drive and some offers recorded.
  • Joining outcomes set on the offers you already know about, otherwise the joining figures lag reality.
  • Any placement role. Insights is readable by owners, coordinators and viewers alike.
Steps

7 steps, in order.

1

Start on the dashboard, not on the report

The Placements dashboard gives you the four headline numbers in one glance: Placement rate, Profiles complete as a count and a percentage, Median CTC and Highest CTC. Underneath, the Pipeline strip shows Applied, Shortlisted, Offered, Accepted and Joined with a count each, which tells you where the season is losing people. Every tile is clickable, so a number you do not believe is one click from the list behind it.

Placement rate, profiles complete and CTC across the top, with the pipeline counts on the right.

  • Placement rate counts students marked placed against the roster total. A student missing from the roster is not in the denominator, so an incomplete roster quietly inflates the number.
2

Read the Placement summary on Insights

Open the Insights tab. The Season block opens with Placement rate, Placed as a fraction of the roster, Offers, Accepted, then Highest CTC, Average CTC, Median CTC and Active drives as a fraction of total drives. Below that sit three breakdowns: Applications by stage running Applied, Shortlisted, Accepted, Withdrawn and Rejected, Offers by company, and Placements by branch as placed over total per branch.

The season summary tiles, applications by stage and the CTC bands, with the branch by company table underneath.

  • Median CTC is the fairer headline when you report to your institution. Highest CTC is one student and it moves the story more than it moves the season.

Keep placement rate and joining rate apart

These are two different numbers and institutions usually ask for the second. Placement rate is read off offers accepted. Joining is only true once someone has actually started, which is what Set joining records. Go to the Offers & joining tab and read the status chips across the top: All, Rolled, Accepted, Joined, Deferred, Declined, Revoked and Reneged, each with a count of the rows under it. The gap between Accepted and Joined is the number you will be asked about. The row itself carries one primary action, Mark accepted, Set joining or Edit joining depending on where the offer is, and the rest sit behind the overflow menu: mark declined or reneged, revoke, or rescind with a reason.

  • Rolled

    What it means
The offer is out and the student has not responded
    How it gets set
Roll offer on a shortlisted applicant inside the drive
  • Accepted

    What it means
The student took the offer and is marked placed
    How it gets set
Mark accepted on the row, or the student accepting in their portal
  • Joined

    What it means
The student actually started, with a joining date on the record
    How it gets set
Set joining on an accepted row
  • Deferred

    What it means
Joining pushed to a later date
    How it gets set
Set from the row overflow menu
  • Declined

    What it means
The student turned it down. Final for that offer
    How it gets set
Mark declined on the row, or the student declining in their portal
  • Revoked

    What it means
    The company withdrew the offer
    How it gets set
    Revoke on the row
  • Reneged

    What it means
The student backed out after accepting
    How it gets set
    Mark reneged on the row
  • Revoked and Reneged are not interchangeable. One is the company's decision and one is the student's, and the distinction is exactly what a recruiter is asking about when they ask how your students behave.

Take the branch table and the CTC bands

Scroll to the Reports block at the bottom of Insights. It has its own All batches and All branches filters, then a grid of figures: Placement rate, Placed, Eligible, Offers, Accepted, Joined, Highest CTC, Average CTC, Median CTC and Lowest CTC, with Active companies and Published drives under Across the college. By branch gives you Branch, Placed, Total, Rate, Highest and Average per row. CTC bands splits every offer into six buckets: under ₹5,00,000, ₹5,00,000 to ₹10,00,000, ₹10,00,000 to ₹15,00,000, ₹15,00,000 to ₹20,00,000, ₹20,00,000 to ₹30,00,000, and ₹30,00,000 and above.

  • The bands are what to show when someone quotes your highest package back at you. A distribution answers the question that a single figure cannot.
5

Read the branch by company matrix

The last table in the Reports block is Branch x Company, with Branch, Company, Offers and Accepted on every row. It is the most useful view on the page when you are planning next season, because it shows which companies actually hire from which branches rather than which companies visited. A recruiter with three years of offers and no acceptances in a branch is a different conversation from one who has never been asked.

6

Use readiness as the leading indicator

The Cohort block on the same tab reports Avg readiness, how many students sit below the offer readiness threshold, the offer threshold itself and the student count. Under it, Readiness distribution buckets the cohort into 0 to 20, 20 to 40, 40 to 60, 60 to 80 and 80 to 100, and Readiness by branch gives Branch, Avg readiness and Below offer per row. Suggested prep names the weakest area with the cohort average next to it. Placement rate only tells you afterwards. If readiness is low in the middle of a season there is still time to do something about it.

7

Export server side, not off the screen

The Reports block has three export buttons, Students CSV, Applications CSV and Offers CSV, and they run server side. The Season summary has its own Export, and the Offers & joining tab has an Export where you pick exactly which fields to include. Use these rather than copying figures out of the tables. The exports carry fields the page does not display, and the batch and branch filters you set apply to what comes out.

  • If an export comes back empty, it is almost always the filters rather than a fault. Reset them, or check the season actually has data in that category yet.
What you get

At the end of this guide.

A placement rate and a joining rate you can quote as two separate numbers.

CTC as highest, average, median and lowest, plus a six band distribution of every offer.

A branch table with placed, total, rate, highest and average per branch.

A branch by company matrix showing which recruiters hire from which branches, and who accepts.

Cohort readiness with an offer threshold, a distribution and a per branch breakdown.

Three server side CSV exports, for students, applications and offers.

Common mistakes

What goes wrong, and the fix.

Quoting placement rate when the question was about joining.

Keep joining outcomes current. Set joining on accepted offers as they land, so the Joined chip is real on the day you are asked.

Leading with highest CTC.

Report the median as the headline and keep the highest as a footnote. One outlier is not a season.

Reporting a placement rate off a partial roster.

The rate counts placed students against the roster total. Anyone missing from the roster is missing from the denominator.

Recording every failed offer as the same thing.

Reneged is the student backing out after accepting. Revoked is the company withdrawing. Use the right one on the row.

Copying figures off the screen into a deck.

Use the server side CSVs. They include fields the page does not show, and they respect the batch and branch filters you set.
