AI interview tool for IT staffing agencies: an honest shortlist

The best AI interview tool for IT staffing agencies is the one that tests the skill your client is paying for. Expert Hire and Glider AI fit technical first rounds with coding, and Ribbon and Tenzo fit volume voice screens. HeyMilo and Alex fit full-funnel automation, and Hireflix fits one-way video on a budget.
The rest is for an agency owner or ops lead who places engineers and data people for several clients at once. If you want the whole agency tool stack (sourcing, CRM and the rest), we cover that in the full AI tool stack for staffing agencies. This post sticks to the interview layer, and it names vendors.
Key Takeaways
Our position: an IT staffing desk should pick its AI interviewer by the round the client actually judges, which is usually the technical one, not by the lowest price per interview.
Most AI interviewers are built for hourly volume by phone. Only a few run a real coding round that a non-technical recruiter can forward with confidence.
Two agency questions sort the list fast: can you keep each client separate in one account, and does it sync with the ATS you already run?
Several vendors don't publish prices. Where that's true, we say "not published" rather than repeat someone else's estimate.
Expert Hire fits technical first rounds across many clients. It doesn't sync with Bullhorn yet (that's on the roadmap), and we say so below.
AI interview tool for IT staffing agencies: the short answer
An AI interviewer runs a structured first-round talk with the candidate. It scores it against what you set, then hands you a recording, transcript and score. For an IT staffing agency, that first round has a twist. The recruiter who sends the candidate on often can't judge a Python answer or a system design sketch alone.
So the question isn't "what's the best AI interview platform for staffing agencies?" It's "which one tests what my client will test, and gives me evidence I can send?" Here's the list, sorted by job. Every vendor claim comes from the vendor's own site:
Technical first rounds across many clients: Expert Hire, Glider AI.
High-volume voice screens before the technical round: Ribbon, Tenzo.
Full-funnel automation at volume: HeyMilo, Alex.
One-way video on a budget, and the enterprise default: Hireflix, Spark Hire, HireVue.
Checked November 2, 2026: a few numbers worth having to hand, each from the vendor's own page.
Tenzo says it's "Available in 40+ languages" with "57+ integrations out of the box" (tenzo.ai).
Alex lists "33+ officially supported ATS integrations" (apriora.ai).
HeyMilo screens with "structured AI voice, video, SMS, and forms" and "Operates 24/7 in 20+ languages" (heymilo.ai).
Hireflix lists its Small plan at $75 per month, billed yearly, with a free first month, as of November 2026 (hireflix.com/pricing).
Expert Hire includes a separate client workspace on every plan, priced per workspace from $99 a month, never per seat (experthire.io/pricing).
Five questions that separate an IT staffing tool from an in-house one
You hire for six clients, or sixty, and that's the core of how a staffing agency scales. Ask these five questions about any AI interview software for staffing agencies before a demo.
1. Can each client live in its own space? Jobs, candidates and branding should stay apart per client, inside one agency account.
2. Is the report something a client will read? A score alone won't win a submission. The client wants the transcript, the code and the reasons behind each score, without logging into your tools.
3. Can a non-technical recruiter trust the technical depth? Phone screens test how people talk and the must-haves. An IT client wants to know if the candidate can code. Look for a real coding round and system design questions, not a chat about the resume.
4. Does it sync with your ATS? Many agencies run Bullhorn. Read the vendor's own integration page, because some tools write a full note back to the record and some just link out to their dashboard. If your agency runs Greenhouse, our list of AI interview tools that integrate with Greenhouse shows how each one connects.
5. How is it priced? Per interview, per seat, per workspace or by quote. Small agencies feel per-seat pricing fast, and quote-only pricing is hard to compare.
Best for technical first rounds across many clients: Expert Hire, Glider AI
These two are the ones on this list built around technical skills, which is where an IT desk earns its fee. We used the same "best for" format in our 11 best AI hiring tools for engineering teams. If you typed "AI screening tool for staffing agencies technical roles" into a search bar, this is the section you wanted.
Expert Hire
Expert Hire is an AI interview platform for staffing agencies, hiring teams and campuses: it runs structured AI interviews and coding tests, scores them against your rubric, and gives each candidate a report card, priced per workspace from $99 a month. Its live AI interviews cover coding and system design. The report card shows the transcript and code behind each score.
For agencies, the staffing page says it plainly: "One account. A separate workspace for every client." A client workspace is included on every plan, each with its own logo and brand name, and our guide on setting up a client workspace shows how. White-label logo and domain unlock at Growth.
There are eight AI interview types, from Coding to System Design, in seven languages (English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Tagalog and Arabic). Coding tests run in many languages, C# included. Prompt assessments have technical and non-technical tracks. A Chrome extension masks a resume's name, contact details and photo before it goes to a client, at 1 Hire Credit per run.
Pricing is per workspace with unlimited team members: Explorer $99, Starter $249, Growth $499 a month, and Scale is custom. The 30-day trial comes with 75 Hire Credits. An AI interview draws 5 credits and a coding test draws 3.
Best for: agencies screening engineers, data and other technical people for several clients, where the client needs a report card it can read.
Limits: Greenhouse is available today in early access. Lever and Ashby are supported, with those integrations rolling out. Bullhorn is on the roadmap, so a Bullhorn shop runs Expert Hire's own pipeline board for now. All proctoring, browser and desktop, unlocks on Growth or Scale at no extra credits. SSO is upcoming and not on any plan today.
Auto-shortlist and auto-reject thresholds exist, but they're opt-in and off by default. There's no black-box pass/fail: every result has a transcript and scores behind it. Expert Hire is also ISO 27001 certified.
For an IT staffing desk, what sets Expert Hire apart is the mix. You get a live AI interview with a coding round, a separate workspace for every client on every plan, and per-workspace pricing with unlimited recruiters.
Glider AI
Glider AI sells to staffing firms and to IT services firms. Its homepage lists coding tests, live coding interviews and AI voice. It also says it can stop fake candidates "with advanced ID verification and AI proctoring."
Best for: staffing and IT services firms that want proctored technical skills tests at scale, with ID checks.
Limits: pricing not published. Its pricing link leads to a demo request, and we only describe what its homepage says.
If your client only wants a coding test: CodeSignal, HackerRank, Codility
These are the coding-test vendors most clients already know. CodeSignal and HackerRank now sell AI interviewers too. As of November 2026, CodeSignal Build (codesignal.com/pricing) and HackerRank Starter (hackerrank.com) both start at $79 a month billed annually, and Codility starts from $4,800 a year (codility.com/pricing).
Best for: desks where an engineer at your agency or at the client will read the scores.
Limits: they're built as tests for engineers to review. A recruiter who can't read code gets less to forward. If CodeSignal is the one you're replacing, see our CodeSignal alternatives for recruiters.
Best for high-volume voice screens before the technical round: Ribbon, Tenzo
For help desk and support roles at volume, a fast voice screen often makes the first cut.
Ribbon
Ribbon says it "interviews every applicant automatically, 24/7, at any volume" and works "on any phone, in 10 languages." It lists "Staffing Agencies & RPO" as a segment. Its homepage also says "Ribbon has signed an agreement to be acquired by Dayforce," which is worth a question in your demo.
Best for: phone screens for high-volume roles.
Limits: a voice phone screen, with no coding environment on the pages we read. Pricing not published. Our Ribbon alternatives page goes head to head.
Tenzo
Tenzo describes "AI powered phone or video interviews 24/7 in any language," with "Bi-directional syncs" into your ATS. Its pricing page is a quote form, with "Recruiting Agency" listed as a use case.
Best for: agencies that need voice screens in many languages, synced to the ATS.
Limits: pricing not published.
Best for full-funnel automation at volume: HeyMilo, Alex
These two go wider than the interview, across the whole top of the funnel.
HeyMilo
HeyMilo calls itself a "Leading AI Recruiter for High-Volume Hiring." It lists Staffing Agencies as a segment and Bullhorn as a featured integration ("Staffing & recruiting CRM"). White Labeling and Cheat Detection are listed as products. Its pricing page is a demo request.
Best for: agencies on Bullhorn that want screening, interviewing and cheat detection from one vendor.
Limits: pricing not published, and it's built for volume, so it may be more platform than a small technical desk needs. Our HeyMilo alternatives list goes deeper.
Alex (by Apriora)
Alex has an "RPO & Staffing" solution. It scores each application for fraud risk. It uses signals like email, phone and LinkedIn. It also says "Let Alex call thousands of candidates instantly."
Best for: agencies whose main risk is fake or fraudulent applicants at volume.
Limits: pricing not published. See our Alex alternatives page for a head-to-head.
Best for one-way video on a budget, and the enterprise default: Hireflix, Spark Hire, HireVue
Hireflix
Hireflix sells one-way video plans. As of November 2026, its Small plan is $75 a month billed yearly and Medium is $150, and both say "Try free for 1 month." Recruitment agencies fall under the Custom plan, and "White label available" is listed.
Best for: small agencies that want cheap, simple one-way video.
Limits: one-way recorded video is a different format. There's no live follow-up question, so it suits soft-skill screens more than technical ones.
Spark Hire
Spark Hire pairs live and one-way video interviews with its own ATS, which it says "integrates with 100+ providers." As of November 2026, its video interview plans start at $249 a month billed annually, and it says pricing varies by company size (sparkhire.com/pricing).
Best for: agencies that want video interviews and a light ATS from one vendor.
Limits: video interviews, not a coding round, so it suits soft-skill screens more than technical ones.
HireVue
HireVue says its AI Interviewer runs voice-based interviews. It lists an "RPO Staffing" solution and tools to catch cheating and fraud.
Best for: large RPOs and enterprise programmes that want an established vendor.
Limits: pricing not published. Our HireVue alternatives page compares it with other options.
When you want a note-taker, not an interviewer
Some agencies sell on their recruiters' phone calls, and an AI interviewer would cut that out. If that's you, a note-taker such as Metaview or BrightHire records your own calls and fills in the ATS for you.
Also on most lists, not reviewed here: TalentSprout, VidCruiter, Humanly, Truffle and Merit2Hire.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI interview tool for an IT staffing agency?
It depends on the round your client judges. For technical first rounds across several clients, look at Expert Hire and Glider AI, and for high-volume voice screens, Ribbon and Tenzo. For full-funnel automation, HeyMilo and Alex. For cheap one-way video, Hireflix.
Can a non-technical recruiter use an AI interviewer to screen software engineers?
Yes, if the tool runs a real coding round and returns the code and transcript behind each score. Expert Hire and Glider AI both run coding rounds. With Expert Hire, the recruiter forwards a report card with per-skill scores, which the client's engineers can check for themselves.
Which AI interview tools integrate with Bullhorn?
HeyMilo lists Bullhorn as a featured integration on its own site. Expert Hire doesn't have a Bullhorn connector yet; it's on the roadmap. For any other vendor, read its integration page and ask what gets written back to the Bullhorn record.
Do AI interview tools offer white-label for agencies?
Several do. HeyMilo lists White Labeling as a product, and Hireflix says white label is available. Expert Hire gives every client workspace its own logo and brand name on every plan, with white-label logo and domain unlocking at Growth.
How much does an AI interview tool cost for a small agency?
Many vendors don't publish prices. Of those that do (as of November 2026), Hireflix lists $75 a month billed yearly for its Small plan, Spark Hire's video interviews start at $249 a month billed annually, and Expert Hire starts at $99 a month per workspace with unlimited team members, after a 30-day trial with 75 Hire Credits.
The bottom line: run one client's live IT req through two tools
For an IT staffing desk, the AI interviewer for recruiting agencies that matters is the one that runs the round your client will judge. That's usually the tech round. Don't buy on price per interview alone.
Take one live IT req, run it through two tools, and send both outputs to the client. If you're placing engineers for several clients and want to see the technical round for yourself, start with Expert Hire for staffing agencies.
